Tips for Keeping Those Fresh Cut Flowers Lasting a Bit Longer

Fresh flowers are one of my absolute favorite house decors. I love how much brighter they make the space. In my free time, you can bet that I am most likely hanging out at Trader Joe’s grabbing some of my favorite food items as well as a bouquet of fresh flowers. However, with the quarantine/pandemic, I was looking for a solution to keep my fresh flowers lasting a bit longer, since heading to the store with kids feels a bit more daunting these days.

If you are feeling the same, try these four tips below! They have done wonders for my fresh flowers at the house!

Try these simple tricks:

1)     Always cut your flower stems at an angle for better water intake.

2)     Remove any leaves below the water line to prevent bacteria growth.

3)     Use room temperature water and add some DIY flower food ( 3 tablespoons of sugar + 2 tablespoons of white vinegar per quart of water)

4)     Change out the water and flower food every 2-3 days.
