Let’s Talk Eye Cream!

Have you ever wondered is an eye cream worth it?

It is another product to invest in and another product to remember to apply! When you already apply serums and moisturizers to the face, it can feel redundant at times to add another product. However, the skin under the eyes is thin and delicate and needs an extra bit of love!

This past year has allowed some extra time at home and some extra time to use all my products and see them work all their magic with those makeup free days. I have noticed a significant difference after adding an eye cream in day and night & I felt the need to share with you!!!

First, why are eye creams important?

As mentioned early, the skin around the eyes is (10 times) thinner and therefore needs to be cared for a little bit different. The thin nature of the under eye makes it more delicate, vulnerable, quicker to age, and prone to allergic reactions. Also, the skin around your eyes is constantly moving. Think about it. Blinking, squinting, smiling, frowning: these movements can all cause strain on the tiny muscles around the eye. We need to protect it!

What are the benefits of incorporating an eye cream?

Eye creams are specifically formulated to add anti-aging benefits while respecting the sensitivity of the eye area. Therefore, adding an eye cream day and night can help to minimize wrinkles/fine lines, help with discoloration, decrease puffiness, reduce dark circles, and even out skin tone.

When is the best time to start using an eye cream?

The sooner the better actually! It is best to start using an eye cream before you feel like you need one. Best results come from prevention!

My personal favorite eye cream is Beautycounter’s Countertime Ultra Renewal eye cream. I have been using consistently and have noticed quite a difference. Beautycounter’s Countertime eye cream does such a great job of treating crow’s feet around the eyes as well as keeping the skin hydrated! This eye cream does not pill under concealer either! If you do have naturally oily skin, it is always a good idea to add a mattifying powder after applying makeup to keep your products in place throughout the day!

How to use Beautycounter’s Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream

  • Scoop a small amount out.

  • Apply product with ring finger.

  • Gently pat around the eye area until fully absorbed.

  • Use morning and night.

Holiday Bucket List

A little over 5 years into this parenting gig and every year I hope to create and build holiday traditions for our family. We never travel over Christmas. It is important to me that the kiddo’s wake up at home on Christmas morning. Traditionally, we travel to AZ the week after Christmas for a bit of a break and reset for the upcoming year.

Yes, there may be a pandemic going on, but we are still going to enjoy the MAGIC of the season. I wanted to share with you our Holiday Bucket List that I created this year! I like to keep it simple enough so we can knock off all the items but also fun to keep the excitement of the season alive!

We are about 1/3 through our list with lots of time to go! I would love to hear in the comments what some of your favorite holiday traditions are!

holiday season bucket list .PNG

Everything around the holidays is more fun with kids. Grace (almost 3) and Logan (5) love doing crafts. Grace and I did this Christmas Tree Ornament craft this past week while Logan was doing E learning. We both had a blast and it kept Grace engaged for almost an hour! I got all my supplies at Hobby Lobby!

What do you need:

  • Popsicle sticks

  • Glue ( glue gun works best)

  • Paint/or markers

  • Pom Poms

  • Pipe Cleaners

  • String

Happy Holiday Season Friends! I hope you are able to relax and enjoy the next couple of weeks!

Combating Those Tired Mama Eyes

The days are long, but the years are short. Five months into a pandemic, this phrase has never felt truer.

The load of motherhood has felt a bit heavier these days. However, I have good news for you busy and sleepy mamas!

This quick and simple daily routine will help your eyes look visibly brighter, awake, and more youthful. Struggle with eye makeup smudging throughout the day? I have a solution for you too.

If you are like me, a quick self care pick me up at the beginning of the day always helps me to recharge and feel a bit more ready to tackle the day!

First step:

Countertime Ulta Renewal Eye Cream:

This is the MVP of all eye creams. Eye creams are an important part of our skin care regimen. The skin under the eyes is naturally thinner than the rest of the skin and as we age the skin becomes less elastic. Eye creams help to keep the skin hydrated and less puffy and therefore help to decrease the aging process. This eye cream does it all! It helps with puffiness, fine lines, and dark circles. This one leaves my eyes looking visibly brighter and younger looking! I apply day and night. However, if that is too much, it is best to at least apply at night since skin regenerates the most overnight!

Second Step:

Touch up Skin Concealer Pen:

Click, cover, & correct. Beautycounter’s Touch up concealer pen is highly blendable and allows for full coverage. Best part, it stays all day long. The concealer pen is formulated with knot grass extract to help reduce the appearance of fine lines. Therefore, skin looks firmer, brighter, and instantly more even. I always have an extra one of these on hand in case I run out!

Third Step:

Mattifying Powder:

Emollients can cause mascara to rub off above and below your eyes. Add a bit of loose mattifying powder around the eye (top and bottom) to brighten and set makeup for the day. This trick will prevent any makeup from smudging throughout the day that can make you look tired. Bye bye to raccoon eyes.

Fourth Step:

Volumizing Mascara:

Safer mascara is a tricky topic because let’s be honest, as women, we want one that is going to work. Mascaras often contain ingredients contaminated with known carcinogens (PEG’s, heavy metals, and Parabens) . So if you are considering a safer swap, mascara is a great starting point! Beautycounter’s volumizing mascara uses natural fibers, as opposed to synthetic which can cause eye irritation, to create fuller and more natural looking lashes. This volumizing mascara is my absolute favorite. It transforms my eyes immediately! I place in a hot glass of water for a couple minutes to give a super smooth application. Beautycounter’s mascara is made of shea & coco butter and therefore the warm water allows the butters to melt perfectly for application.

Six Clean Products, Five Minutes, and Zero Worry.

FLAWLESS IN FIVE.jpg

FLAWLESS IN FIVE

The makeup solution for busy mamas!

Mamas, what if I told you that you could get a simple and everyday makeup look in less than 5 minutes? You can and here is how!

Thankfully with this Flawless in Five set, all you need is 5 minutes for a simple and polished everyday look. And yes, this can even be accomplished in the car! As much as I wish I had a bit more time to get ready in the mornings, it is just not a luxury I have these days. These products are not only beautiful, they also have safer ingredients. The set comes with six clean products for your everyday makeup look!

Have you considered switching over to safer makeup, but not sure where to start? This set is the perfect start to cleaning up your makeup bag with safer products. Check out your options here.

Here are my items for the Flawless in Five set:

Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation in Shade 150- This foundation is super light weight and designed to resemble your own skin! I am wearing Shade Fair 150. Not only is the makeup color beautiful, it also treats your skin with hyaluronic acid to visibly plump the skin.

Touch Up Concealer Pen in Fair- The best concealer you will ever use! Works amazing at hiding dark circles and fine lines.

Color Define Brow Pencil in Medium- The brow pencil works good for me since my eyebrows are more on the thin side. This brow pencil does a great job to help fill them in! Honestly, my one makeup item I do not like to go without.

Volumizing Mascara in Black- This mascara is awesome for giving my eyelashes a bit of volume. Best part, it is made with safer ingredients. Therefore, no eye irritation and easy to remove!

Satin Powder Blush in Guava- Guava is a beautiful blush color for the summer months. It is a cool pink and gives a pretty pop of color. I also love our Satin Powder shade in Nectar.

Lip Gloss in Dahlia- I love Beautycounter’s Lip glosses because they give a high impact shine without the stickiness. Dahlia is a cool pink shade that I am loving for the summer months. Another summer month favorite is Azalea.

Did you know that over 100,000 chemicals are found in our food and products? Roughly 5% have been analyzed and tested for safety.

Thankfully, Beautycounter has taken a powerful stance to do better than this. Beautycounter restricts more than 1,800 ingredients as opposed to the 30 ingredients that are currently restricted by the United States. To learn more about Beautycounter’s clean promise, click here!

Slow Cooker Applesauce

It all begins with an idea.

Slow Cooker Applesauce.png

Baking with my kids is one of my favorite activities! I love creating special memories in the kitchen with my little ones. It gives them some room to explore and it gives this mama an excuse to enjoy a sweet treat. Also, it is a great way for kids to become confident in the kitchen. That being said, I am always on the hunt for a yummy/easy/and somewhat healthy recipe. We made this homemade applesauce recipe this past weekend and I wanted to share!

I feel like I am a bit outdated over here because I am still loving the slow cooker life. Is there anything better than your house smelling amazing for half the day? Even better, you don’t need to heat up the kitchen in the summer months.

Ingredients

- 6 apples

- ¼ cup of sugar

- ¼ tsp of cinnamon.

- ¼ cup of water

- ½ TSP of lemon water

Instructions

Peel and core all apples. Cut into fourths and place in crockpot. Combine all ingredients and stir!

Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours, until apples are very soft. Mash up a bit with fork.

Enjoy!  This recipe makes one jar of applesauce.
